Their determination was made using capillary gas chromatography with thermal desorption and mass spectrometry. Extraction efficiencies of caffeine and theophylline in whole blood samples were 0.10-0.14 and 0.04 %, respectively. The regression equations for caffeine and theophylline showed excellent linearity in the range of 0.15-2.5 (r=0.9991) and 1.87-15 μg/ml (r=0.9999), respectively. The detection limits (signal-to-noise ratio=3) were 0.06 μg/ml for caffeine and 0.4 μg/ml for theophylline.
