It employs the release of 4-methoxy-β-naphthylamine from glycyl-L-proline-4-methoxy-β-naphthylamide by the GDA action; 4-methoxy-β-naphthylamine couples with o-dianisidine (tetrazotized) to produce a strong brownishred color.
