To facilitate an understanding of the issues involved in this study, basic matters concerning the theory of learning, learning styles, learning strategies and multiple intelligences theory will be briefly outlined. An integral element of this investigation is an on-going action research study that has been undertaken by the author over the past several years at several university campuses in Japan.
