| 内容記述 | "Bioethics" is a new intellectual movement in the anglo-american countries, intended to respond to the bioethical situation, which has been brought about by biotechnology. "Bioethics" has as its principle an idea of autonomy or selfdetermination, and adovocates its universality. But it holds theoretically and practically several dilemmas or difficulties, especially when applied to other societies, e.g.Japan. How should we receive it in the japanese bioethical situation ? In this paper we try to criticize "bioethics", by going back to and analyzing historically its premise or background, that is, the tradition of Individualism. This tradition has been formed in the so called modernization from the 13th c. through the 17th c. to the 19th c. in the west-european societies. But in that process it had experienced a radical modification, moreover, lost its excellent content, connected in the 18th c. well with the publicity. On this poor Individualism is based "Bioethics". Standing on such results, we inquier a foundation for ethics, which can respond to the bioethical situation in Japan. Contents (or Authers argued with) are following: Intro.
