内容記述 | Since Locke, the concept of 'person', the root of which is 'persona', has obtained such senses as the subject of rights or the individual itself. This obtainment is the reason why 'person' has established the authority as the moral-legal principle of our modern society. Today, we still need the 'person', in order to give grounds to 'human rights'. But, at the same time, we feel reforming it necessary, because we confront with problems beyond it. Such an ambiguous situation forces Derek Parfit to propose a new view on the 'personal identity'. Revising Lockean framework, he aims at dissolving or shading off the 'person', making us release from 'the glass wall tunnel', the name of which is 'Self', and so finally establishing 'a non-religious universal moral theory'. In this paper, I criticize his view and point out its weakness through several arguments. Furthermore, I present my own immature view. Its points are as follows: (1) the concept of 'person' as 'the self-consciousness in social relationships of which it is the center'. (2) an interpretation of the mind-body problem, as the correspondence without coincidence between ordinary and scientific descriptions. (3) the structure of various concepts on 'people', such as 'human being', 'humanity', 'man', and 'person'. (4) a perspective of moral theory, from intimate social relationships (not only from questions to 'Self') up to the public and general ones. |
