In the diagnosis of paternity, the putative man and the accusing mother-child couple are usually alive, and the problems of paternity are disputed between them. However, there are some cases where the man and/or the mother are deceased, and, as a consequence, their blood types which are essential for the calculation of paternity probability, are not directly available. In the present paper we have derived general formulas of paternity probability which are applicable to any cases where the man and/or the mother are deceased, using the blood types of various relatives. Furthermore, the efficiency of the diagnosis is analyzed statistically in such cases where deceased persons are involved, based on the distribution curves of log (Y/X) for true father and non-father. |
