| 内容記述 | What follows is translation and interpretation of four short poems from the Chinese poetry of the Tang dynasty. We will present three versions of translation: the initial version given by Sakurai, who has also interpreted the original poems, the second version by Oki, who modified his translation from the viewpoint of a grammarian, occasionally referring back to the original poems, and the final version by Alexander, a native speaker of English. We have attempted to translate the Chinese poems into English instead of translating them into Japanese, chiefly because Chinese and English are closer to each other than to Japanese both in word order and in the sophistication of prosody and versification. | |||||||||||
